Bag Central Station (BCS)
In the 2015 Arizona Legislative session, SB 1241 was passed, it states:
Peempts cities, towns, and counties from enacting fees or bans on auxiliary containers such as cups, cans, bottles or plastic bags. It also preempts requirements for reporting energy audits for large buildings, including grocery stores.
This Bill was the first of a kind of any state in the country that prohibited all of these containers from being banned or charged a fee on a local basis. We feel these kinds of regulations need to be done at the state level so there is a level of consistency throughout Arizona for our customers and tourists.
This website provides information regarding plastic bag recycling. Bag Central Station does not deal with other kinds of recycling (cans, plastic bottles, cardboard, etc.). For more information on recycling in your area, please visit our partner's section.
A common question is what happens to my bags once I have returned them to my local grocery store? The answer is a little more in-depth. There are quite a few different things that can happen to your plastic bag.
Where can I take my plastic bags?:
- Bashas' (including Food City and AJ's)
- Fry's (including Fry's Marketplace and Fry's Mercado)
- IGA Family of Stores
- Los Altos Ranch Markets
